On this episode of ID the Future, Casey Luskin interviews Discovery fellow Michael A. Flannery, author of Alfred Russel Wallace's Theory of Intelligent Evolution: How Wallace's World of Life Challenged Darwinism. Flannery explains how Alfred Russel Wallace, the 19th century naturalist who co-discovered with Charles Darwin the principle of natural selection, not only dissented from key aspects of Darwinism but held certain views that can be classified as intelligent design (ID). Flannery's book shows that Wallace is a progenitor to modern ID who was neither a Christian nor a creationist, providing a historical disproof of many popular arguments against ID.
In this first installment of the interview, Mr. Flannery discusses how Darwin's early training in materialist philosophy influenced his later scientific proposals.
